2014 - 2015 Student Re-registration Through InfoSnap
On May 1st, all Fort Mill District schools are accepting student re-registrations for the 2014-2015 school year through the district's secure re-registration system, InfoSnap.  Parents of currently enrolled students will receive an email on May 1st with a link to InfoSnap, which will allow them to re-enroll their student(s) and pay applicable fees - all online.  Parents new to the school district this year will be asked to set-up a "snapcode."  Previously registered users can reuse the same sign-in information from the prior school year.  Click here to access InfoSnap.

2014 Summer Camps
Over the summer, many of our schools offer summer camps. Programs are typically run by Fort Mill teachers and athletic coaches in partnership with student based clubs and athletic teams. Click here to look at the current schedule.

The mission of Sugar Creek Elementary School is to put children first by positively supporting diversity within a safe learning community while in pursuit of excellence through an engaging curriculum and a love of learning.

From the Principal

Welcome to Sugar Creek Elementary! My name is Michelle Gritz and I am proud to be Principal at Sugar Creek.  This is my 16th year of being an educator in the Fort Mill School District. Our vision at Sugar Creek is putting children first, striving for excellence and building positive relationships. The vision of our school stems from our school district’s mission.  Family and community are the foundation of Sugar Creek.  I truly believe that a successful education is a joint effort between the school and the home. Communicating effectively with parents and the community is an important way to keep families informed of class activities, PTO and school events. Bringing families into the school will remain a priority for us at Sugar Creek Elementary. Our school’s focus this year will be on Teaming Together Towards Excellence. Our staff will be working hard on implementing standards based instruction and innovative practices, as well,  as integrating technology into their lessons.   We are striving to prepare all students to be 21st century thinkers and problem solvers. I look forward to continuing my educational journey at Sugar Creek and to serving our students, staff and families. I am privileged to be the mother of three boys- Braden (3rd grade), Nicholas (1st grade), and Gabriel (4 years old) and the wife of Chris Gritz.

We are excited to announce that we are going to allow parents to have the opportunity to paint the school spirit rock that is located in front of the school. Parents will be able to paint the rock for birthday announcements.

  • If you are interested in painting the rock, you must sign up for it on the calendar that will be located in the front office.

  • Each person that signs up will be able to keep their message up for 24 hours.

  • Birthday messages can be painted the day before after school hours (3:30).  For example, if my son's birthday is on March 27th then I can paint the rock after school hours (3:30) on the 26th. My birthday message will stay up all day on the 27th. If someone wants to paint it for the 28th then they have to wait until afterschool on the 27th.

  • Remember, you must sign up in the front office to reserve the day you want to paint the rock.

We are excited to begin this new tradition at SCES!

Labels for Education

Please help our school by sending in Campbell's soup labels and clipping Labels for Education UPC codes. A complete list of participating products can be found at:

All In One Package.pngOne way we are improving security at SCES and around the district is implementing a sex offender scan for all volunteers and visitors that enter our school.  If you plan to volunteer or visit you will need to provide a license or state ID as you enter the front office.  The system is new and takes some time to get accustomed to, so please arrive a few minutes early to accommodate for the extra time this will take.  We appreciate your support and patience with this new security system.  This is just another way our district is putting "Children First."

We would like to thank Sisk Memorial Baptist Church, First Baptist of Fort Mill, York County Sheriff's Dept., Compact Power Equipment Rental, Compact Power Equipment Service, and Lake Wylie Lutheran Church for providing support as we prepared for this school year.  Whether is was by donating school supplies, helping teachers in their classrooms, or providing helpers to deliver materials to classrooms, your generosity means more to us than we can say.

The No Place for Hate® Promise

  • I promise to do my best to treat everyone fairly.
  • I promise to do my best to be kind to everyone —even if they are not like me.
  • If I see someone being hurt or bullied, I will tell a teacher.
  • Everyone should be able to feel safe and happy in school.
  • I want our school to be No Place for Hate®.

We have a system in place in the Fort Mill School District called Parent Portal. At Sugar Creek Elementary, Parent Portal gives parents of students in Grades 3-5 an opportunity to view attendance, grades, and assignments for their child.

Reminder: Car Line Name Tags and Walker/Biker Waiver

Make sure you pick up a NEW name tag for car line for the 2013-2014 school year.  You can pick one up at Meet the Teacher or in the front office.  These tags should be displayed in the front windshield with student names written BIG, bold, and in print.  You may not use these signs to pick up students from the door, please wait in line.  For safety reasons, you may not pick students up in car line without a name tag.  If you do not have a tag, you must park to get a tag from the front office and then return to the car rider line. Thanks for your help in making sure afternoon car line runs smoothly.

If your child plans on walking or biking to/from school, please turn in a waiver to the front office so your child can receive a walker tag for his/her bookbag.  These waivers are available at Meet the Teacher, in the front office, or you may print one from under Parent Resources.
