Four Year Old (4K) Program Screening - April 24th & 25th
Parents interested in having their child enrolled in the district's 4 year old (4K) program should make arrangements for a screening which will take place on April 24th and April 25th at Riverview Elementary School.

Kindergarten Registration - 2014/15 School Year
If you missed kindergarten registration on March 6th and 7th, please know that all elementary schools are still registering kindergartners for the 2014/2015 school year.  The only difference is that your child will not go through an academic screening. Students who will attend Doby's Bridge are to register at Fort Mill Elementary, and students attending Tega Cay will register at Gold Hill Elementary. Read more...

Weather Make-Up Days - Update 3/19/2014
Three instructional days were missed in February due to inclement weather conditions. The first weather make-up day will be this Friday, March 21st for all students and staff. The remaining two make-up days are being waived by the administration, based on the state law approved by Governor Haley last week. Please mark your calendars accordingly.

From the Principal

I am beyond thrilled to be the new Principal at Sugar Creek Elementary School! After serving as the Assistant Principal at Sugar Creek for the past four years, I am excited to continue building positive relationships with our students, staff, and families. When we opened Sugar Creek Elementary, our focus was on building Unity in the Community, which quickly became our school motto. Family and community are the foundation at Sugar Creek Elementary.  Over the years, our vision has moved toward providing a safe learning environment where all students can learn. Additionally, the success of our students includes the connection which our parents have with their children's and their education. I truly believe that a successful education is a joint effort between the school and the home. Communicating effectively with parents is an important way to keep families informed of class activities and school events. Bringing families into the school will remain a priority for us at Sugar Creek Elementary. Our schools focus this year will be on collaboration and teamwork. Our staff will be working hard on implementing Common Core Standards for Math and English Language Arts.  We are striving to prepare all students to be 21st century thinkers and problem solvers. I look forward to continuing my educational journey at Sugar Creek and to serving our students, staff and families. In addition to being the new Principal, I am a wife and mother to three beautiful, spunky boys. Braden will be in 2nd grade, Nicholas will be in Kindergarten, and Gabriel is 3 years old.  They love Sugar Creek as much as I do!

We are excited to announce that we are going to allow parents to have the opportunity to paint the school spirit rock that is located in front of the school. Parents will be able to paint the rock for birthday announcements.

  • If you are interested in painting the rock, you must sign up for it on the calendar that will be located in the front office.

  • Each person that signs up will be able to keep their message up for 24 hours.

  • Birthday messages can be painted the day before after school hours (3:30).  For example, if my son's birthday is on March 27th then I can paint the rock after school hours (3:30) on the 26th. My birthday message will stay up all day on the 27th. If someone wants to paint it for the 28th then they have to wait until afterschool on the 27th.

  • Remember, you must sign up in the front office to reserve the day you want to paint the rock.

We are excited to begin this new tradition at SCES!

All In One Package.pngOne way we are improving security at SCES and around the district is implementing a sex offender scan for all volunteers and visitors that enter our school.  If you plan to volunteer or visit you will need to provide a license or state ID as you enter the front office.  The system is new and takes some time to get accustomed to, so please arrive a few minutes early to accommodate for the extra time this will take.  We appreciate your support and patience with this new security system.  This is just another way our district is putting "Children First."

We have a system in place in the Fort Mill School District called Parent Portal. At Sugar Creek Elementary, Parent Portal gives parents of students in Grades 3-5 an opportunity to view attendance, grades, and assignments for their child.

Reminder: Car Line Name Tags and Walker/Biker Waiver 

Make sure you pick up a NEW name tag for car line for the 2013-2014 school year.  You can pick one up at Meet the Teacher or in the front office.  These tags should be displayed in the front windshield with student names written BIG, bold, and in print.  You may not use these signs to pick up students from the door, please wait in line.  For safety reasons, you may not pick students up in car line without a name tag.  If you do not have a tag, you must park to get a tag from the front office and then return to the car rider line. Thanks for your help in making sure afternoon car line runs smoothly.

If your child plans on walking or biking to/from school, please turn in a waiver to the front office so your child can receive a walker tag for his/her bookbag.  These waivers are available at Meet the Teacher, in the front office, or you may print one from under Parent Resources.
